The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1968 when the growth of our area made it apparent that there was a need for a service to provide emergency basic life support, care and transportation to an advanced life support facility.  The first ambulance and crews began serving the community in 1969.  This service is designed to provide such aid with all due care and treatment en route.  The Association is currently an EMT-Intermediate service.
The Association's district consists of the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac and Merrimac; the townships of Merrimac, Prairie du Sac, and Roxbury; and parts of the townships of Troy, Honey Creek, Sumpter and West Point.  By a contract, those municipalities have delegated management of the Association to an Ambulance Service Commission.  The Commission consists of a representative from each municipality and township.  The Commission governs the administrative and financial aspects of the Association, deriving their financing from individual billing, Act 102 monies, the taxing authorities of each municipality, and donations.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Please read Hans Wegesser's story.  As you read, you'll find that you don't have to be born with heart disease to suffer a heart attack.  Anyone is susceptible to it, but there are thing you can do to stay healthy and avoid it.  Hans has graciously offered to show his appreciation for the Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association and the EMTs who cared for him by running 100 miles to raise funds for Sauk Prairie Ambulance and for the American Heart Association.

CRAFTERS WANTED!

The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association will be hosting a craft fair on its property on the 500 block of Madison Street in Sauk City on Saturday, July 30th.  Not only is this a well-traveled street, but the fair will also coincide with the village's SPOLKA celebration, which will attract hundreds of residents and tourists to the area for the day.  Generous booth sizes will be available on a first-come-first-served basis for only $20 per site.  The fees collected will all be donated to the Association to assist them in purchasing life-saving equipment.
