About our Service...

The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1968 when the growth of our area made it apparent that there was a need for a service to provide emergency basic life support, care and transportation to an advanced life-support facility.  The first ambulance and crews began serving the community in 1969.  This service is designed to provide such aid with all due care and treatment en route.  The Association is currently an EMT-Intermediate Tech service.

The Association’s district consists of the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac and Merrimac, and the townships of Merrimac, Prairie du Sac, Roxbury, and parts of the townships of Troy, Honey Creek, Sumpter and West Point.  By a contract, those municipalities have delegated management of the Association to an Ambulance Service Commission.  The Commission consists of a representative from each municipality and township.  The Commission governs the administrative and financial aspects of the Association, deriving their financing from individual billing, Act 102 monies, the taxing authorities of each municipality, and donations.
