Each year, Dane County EMS awards a local EMS District with the Robert L. Brunning Award of Excellence. This award was established on May 18, 1996, as a memorial to Robert L. Brunning, EMS Systems Coordinator, who was instrumental in the development of the system for Dane County Emergency Medical Services.
This prestigious award is given to an EMS District that exemplifies outstanding professionalism and service to the community it serves.
Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association had the honor of receiving this award in 2006. The service received glowing nominations from community leaders who pointed out the Associations commitment to excellence in many letters of recommendation. They recognized the Service’s hard work through examples such as: · Battle Against Drunk Driving campaign · Bike Medic Program · Field Defib Program · Community Education Classes · Community Involvement Projects such as National Night Out, Farm Safety Days, Adopt-A-Highway, Kops for Kids and many others · The Service’s commitment to an aggressive continuing education program for its members to ensure the optimum level of care to the community |

DEBBIE RICHARDSON EMT of the Year — Greater than 5 years of service Debbie in unbelievably committed and organized, always gives 100%, and is involved with many committees. She is always willing to help with extra activities, such as Kops for Kids and highway clean-up. Debbie has been a great help with recent fundraising efforts. She takes call when needed on short notice and shows up for a lot of back-up calls. Debbie shows a special kindness to all of us not only as an EMT but also as a wonderful friend that we can talk to anytime. (A special thanks goes out to Debbie’s husband, Gordy, for all of his help and support, as well.)
SHELLY HACKER EMT of the Year — Less than 5 years of service Shelly is always willing to help by taking extra shifts and showing up for back-up calls. She is a good EMT who has worked hard to get her IV-Tech license, is very caring with the patients, always gives 100% and has a wonderful attitude. Best of all, Shelly has a built-in family of helpers! (A special thanks goes to Shelly’s husband, Joel, and their girls for all of their help and dedication, as well.)
